*One Month Old and Questions*

I can't believe our little boy is already a month old!! It seems like time is flying by, so I'm trying to take as many pics as possible so I don't miss any moments of him growing up so fast. He has been such a little joy to have and being a parent has been the most rewarding job of my life! Here is a one month old pic of little Jaden..

Now I have a few questions for more experienced mothers on sleep haha. So Jaden for the first few weeks was really good about night time sleep. He would would wake up every three to four hours to nurse which was great! However, this last week he has decided he wants to stay awake from mid-night to about four or five in the morning, and wanting to it seems eat every hour between that time frame. He is not crying so I know it's not colic he just wants to be awake, and I don't want to just feed him because he is just over eating and spitting up. I don't know what to do to break him of this bad habit...any suggestions? Also anyone know where to get a cute baby book to document Jaden's life? Last question..how long does it take to get the birth certificate and social security card mailed to your house? It has been a month and I have received nothing from the hospital, so just wondering about that.

I got the book Babywise. ANd that helps you put them on a nice schedule and gets them to sleep through the night. I have a copy if you want to read it or they are really cheap, and I even bet the library has a copy.

We got our baby book thing at Deseret Book, its really cute and they have stuff about getting baptized and stuff in there. They should have some online!

I have Baby Wise and Baby Whisperer. I'd recommend either-all about baby on a routine. Make sure Jayden isn't sleeping too long in the afternoon/evening though.
As for the birth certificate and such, ours only took about a month. Make sure the hospital has done their part though. Good luck!

Have you started a bed time routine? At night I give Katelyn a bath, play with her, read a book, nurse her and put her to bed. Jaden might have his days and nights mixed up too. Katelyn would want to eat for like and hour at a time and stupid me let her. She would spit up SO much because she was eating too much. My Dr said they should only eat for about 10 to 15 min on each side cuz that will drain you and after that they are just using you as a pacifier. If you are only breast feeding you should give them Vitamin D because they don't get that from you, but clear that with Jaden's Dr first. When Katelyn is fussy I put a little drop of it on her pacifier and it totally calms her down! It is nice to have on hand when we are driving in the car. If you really need sleep though you can give him a formula bottle because it takes longer for them to digest so they don't have to eat as often. I don't like giving Katelyn formula, if I can avoid it, but if its a choice between me losing my mind cuz she isn't sleeping enough and a formula bottle I think formula is the better way to go!

A really cute website to create books is heritagemakers.com. It is the best I've used and they have SOO much stuff. It is amazing! If you want to do a book cheaper you can go to shutterfly and right now their books are 50% off.

Katelyn's birth certificate came within 3 weeks and the SS card came after but it depends on how busy they are.

Good luck!

It's hard to say why certain babies do the things they do. But in the first few months they are still getting used to the concept of day and night. He may not understand yet that night is for sleeping. Some things that may help are letting him lay down in the dark and relaxing him so that he falls back to sleep. I know Babywise works for some people, but it didn't work for us and I know others that say it didn't help them either. I guess it's worth a try!

If you have signed up with Motherhood Maternity in the mall they will eventually send you a Shutterfly gift card for a free baby photo book. I used mine and loved it!

The social security card took a few weeks...maybe more. But we have yet to get his birth certificate. it was supposed to come but never did so we will be ordering it and that may take a while. It also costs money :( hopefully yours comes soon! I know it can take a few months.
hope some of this helped! hang in there with the constant waking up thing, they learn to balance night and day soon enough :)

I thought I'd help with some advice but it looks like everyone else beat me to it. mom's are usually very eager to give advice if you haven't noticed..Did you send in the request form for the birth certificate? The hospital won't just send you a copy. Though their should've been a form that had you check if you wanted a ss # for Jaden so that should come within his first month. I'd check with the hospital if it doesn't come in another week or so just to make sure they checked that you want one for him.

Keep the lights off, less sleep and more noise during the day. it's very normal for babies to change their sleeping patterns off and on due to growth spurts and such. I hope it gets better for you. Lacking sleep is no fun!

*Honeymoon*

Josh and I went on a wonderful honeymoon to Cancun, Mexico for 8 day 7 nights in an all inclusive resort. We had a blast from relaxing on the beach, swimming with the dolphins, snorkeling, all the way to taking a tour to the Chichen-itza Pyramids (that was Josh's favorite). All and all it was a very fun and romantic honeymoon and we owe it all to my new in-laws for making it possible!
